- 8 weeks
Cadence is a scheduling tool for teams that work across time zones. It had every feature a calendar can have and people still booked meetings nobody could attend.
We started with an audit rather than a redesign, and the audit’s conclusion was that the product needed fewer capabilities rather than better ones. That was an uncomfortable finding to deliver and Cadence took it well.
A calendar that says no for you
Conflicts surfaced before they land
A tested scheduling model

A calendar is a constraint
The old interface treated the week as a canvas to arrange. The new one treats it as a set of constraints to satisfy — you state what the meeting needs and the tool proposes times that work, rather than showing you a grid to negotiate with.

Refusing impossible bookings
The single largest source of frustration was a booking that was technically permitted and practically impossible. Those combinations are now unreachable, which removed a whole category of support ticket.

Eight weeks, one system
The whole surface was rebuilt on a component set of nineteen pieces. Fewer components than the old product had variants of its button.

We asked for a redesign and got an audit that told us to remove things. It was not what we wanted to hear and it was the right answer.
